Link Popularity | |||||||||||
Link popularity is a measurement of links to your site from other sites. Link popularity is so important that it's often the difference between a top search engine ranking and not being found at all. Every major search engine uses some form of link popularity as a factor in search engine results ranking. Link popularity has three main components:
Search engines place a high value on the number of sites linking to your site. Sites with no or just a few incoming links have little chance to achieve a top search engine ranking. Incoming links is especially important to Google. And a link from a large, important site is much more important than links from small sites. Relevance of links is extremely important. Search engines are sophisticated enough to know if the links pointing to your site are from sites with related content, or merely random links. Relevant links build your link popularity. Random links may contribute a small amount to your link popularity, but they can also get you booted from the search engine rankings. The amount of link popularity you need depends on the competitiveness of your keyword phrases. For a very noncompetitive keyword phrase, just a few links might get you to the top of the search engine rankings. But for competitive phrases, it may take hundreds of relevant links to get you on the first page of results. We evalutate link popularity during the proposal process. We will evaluate your link popularity and develop a program to ad links you need. Increasing link popularity is so important that it is part of almost every project we manage.
